In Memoriam: Marguerite Rawalt (1895-1989)

A U.S. government lawyer, in 1961 Rawalt was appointed to the President's Commission on the Status of Women and was the lone vote on that commission in support of the ERA. A charter member of NOW, she served as the first chair of NOW's legal committee and represented women in Title VII test cases. She was an original incorporator of NOW's Legal Defense and Education Fund.
